How to scan with a USB scanner
Let’s start off by saying that officially, we only support the Microvision Flic and ROV bluetooth scanners, and the Apple iSight cameras.
That said, there are other cameras and scanners that work with Delicious Library 2. In theory, any USB “wedge” scanner that “hits return” after each scan should work, though in practice, some work better than others, and some don’t work at all.
To scan
1. Make sure your scanner is plugged in before you launch Delicious Library 2, then select Video Camera Barcode Scanner from the Window menu.
2. Try scanning a barcode of a well-known item that you know you’ll find on Amazon (starting off with a book is a good idea.)
3. If the item isn’t added to your library, try clicking on the [addButton] from the bottom of the application, select the type of item you’re trying to scan, and then scan again. At this point, if the item isn’t added, your camera may not be compatible.
If you haven’t yet bought Delicious Library 2, and you’re curious if it will work with a scanner you already own, you can download and try out the free trial version, that way you can be certain everything is compatible before you buy.
Checking with other users on the forums is also a good way to find out which scanners people have or have not had success with.

Note: Remember when posting on the forums, it’s always a good idea to do a search first, to make sure what you’re posting isn’t a duplication of someone else’s topic. Duplicates clutter the forums and make it more difficult for everyone to find what they’re looking for. Also note, when you start a new topic, there are different categories for different kinds of posts (i.e., question, feature request, discussion, or bug). Please make sure you’re opening the appropriate type of thread.
